Course Objective

Course Description

  • This course introduces the new students attending the University for the first time in their lives (First Year Undergraduates) or those who missed to take this course in their first year to the Course on Introduction to Islamic Sciences.
  • The course is designed to acquaint and familiarize the students taking the Course with the basic and fundamental principles and or tenets of Islam.
  • It presents in some details what Islam is? and what are its basic fundamental beliefs, pillars, laws, ethics, principles, etc.
  • It begins with an overview on Islam in general, then it explores the field of Islamic studies - its history, salient theories, methods and sources.
  • It distinguishes between Islam, Iman and Ihsan and between the pillars of Islam and the pillars of Iman and gives some details on a number of basic concepts such as 'lm (Knowledge) 'ibadah (Worship), 'Aqidah (Creed), Shari'ah (Law), Akhlaq (Morals and Manners), 'Adalah (Justice), Wasatiyyah (Moderation), Ta‘awun (Cooperation and Collaboration), etc.
It also presents a comprehensive picture about the Islamic Way of life, its laws, ethics, and different systems
