Course Objective
The aim of this course is to equip students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills necessary for proficient Linux system management. Through a combination of theoretical concepts and hands-on practice, students will learn to effectively use basic Linux commands, monitor system performance, manage logs, and utilize container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. This course also emphasizes the importance of security best practices and automation in system management, preparing students to tackle real-world challenges and adapt to rapidly evolving technologies in the field.
Course Content
In this course, students will learn essential Linux system management concepts, including basic Linux commands for file management, system navigation, and process control. They will explore system monitoring tools and techniques, resource usage analysis, and log management and analysis for troubleshooting. The course covers writing basic shell scripts to automate routine tasks and delves into containerization concepts, focusing on understanding containers and Docker, container lifecycle management, and using Docker Compose for multi-container applications. Students will gain knowledge of Kubernetes basics, including core concepts and architecture, deploying and managing applications, and advanced topics such as scaling, self-healing, rolling updates, networking, and persistent storage management. Emphasis will also be placed on security best practices for Linux systems and containers, preparing students to implement robust security measures in their environments.
