ISLAMIC ECONOMICS AND LAW (ARABIC) - THESIS

About the Program

-It consists of seven courses (3 hours per week), graduate seminar, and thesis study (120 ECTS total). The normal duration of this program is 4 semesters; the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

- Students, who completed course phase, submit a thesis proposal with the thesis form to the Institute, before starting their theses. After their proposals approved by the Institute, they can start their theses.

Degree and Level Awarded

​Upon successful completion of the program and fulfillment of the program qualifications, students are awarded a Master's degree in Islamic Economics and Law in Arabic (with Thesis).

Admission Requirements

For these admission/application requirements:

  • To obtain a score of at least 55 in the ALES Verbal (Sözel) or Equally Weighted (Eşit Ağırlık) score types.

  • To obtain a score of at least 70 from the YDS or YÖKDİL (Arabic) exams, or a score of at least 80 from the IZU School of Foreign Languages (YDY) exam.

  • To hold a bachelor's degree.

Graduation Requirements

It consists of seven courses totaling 21 credit hours, a master's seminar, and thesis work (a total of 120 ECTS and a GPA of 2.50 or above). The normal duration to complete this program is 4 semesters, and the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

Students who complete the coursework stage submit a thesis proposal along with the thesis form to the Institute before starting their thesis. They become entitled to start their thesis work after their thesis proposals are approved by the Institute.

Recognition of Prior Learning

A student who has completed at least one semester in a graduate program at a university or another institution of higher education may be admitted to the graduate programs of the University via lateral transfer, within the framework of the relevant legislation and the principles determined by the institute administrative board. The principles regarding transfer between thesis and non-thesis master's programs are determined by the institute administrative board.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the Islamic Economics and Law Master's Program can work in relevant institutions within both the public and private sectors. Students graduating from this program can also find employment opportunities in academic institutions related to the field. These institutions include both national and international universities as well as research organizations. Currently, in Turkey, there are Islamic economics and finance programs available at the undergraduate level in 2 universities and at the graduate level in 13 universities.

Another field where our graduates can be employed is private sector institutions and companies. They can work in domestic and international companies operating within Islamic principles across various sectors, and they can also find employment opportunities in participation banks, participation (takaful) insurance companies, savings-based finance companies, and participation portfolio management companies. Currently, 6 participation banks operate in Turkey with 1,207 branches and a 6.3% market share. In addition, the share of participation insurance companies within the insurance sector has reached 4.3%. In the steadily growing savings-based finance sector, more than 30 companies are actively operating.

Access to Further Studies

Students graduating from this program can apply to pursue doctoral (PhD) education.
