ISLAMIC SCIENCES (ARABIC) - NON THESIS

About the Program

It consists of ten courses (3 hours per week) and master's project work (Total 90 ECTS). The normal duration of this program is 2 semesters, the maximum duration is 3 semesters.

Program Objectives & Goals

Objectives

  1. The aim of the Master Program in Islamic Sciences is; providing comprehensive information of The Qur'an's message and the values that Islam put forward. Besides, it is also one of the main goals of the program to gain the competence to conduct scientific research in the branches of science within the scope of the department, to produce solutions toward problems of the field and to develop new interpretations, productivity and participation. Graduates of this program gain not only the knowledge of Islam from the fundamental sources but also the ability and knowledge to develop new interpretations in the face of new situations and events.
  2. The aim of the Master Program in Islamic Studies is to train researchers who are specialized in the science branches of the program and who are capable of developing new interpretations and solutions to these problems by deeply understanding the historical and current problems of the field. It is one of the primary goals of the program that these researchers come to a level where they can grasp and explain the nature of the message of the Qur'an by linking it to the branches of other fields in its history and contemporary world.
Program Learning Outcomes

KNOWLEDGE

  1. To be able to recognize, read and understand the classical and current literature of the field.
  2. To be able to examine texts in source languages (Arabic, Persian and Ottoman Turkish) and to benefit from them.
  3. Comprehending the methodology of the field and using it correctly,
  4. To be able to identify the problems of the field,
  5. To make written and oral scientific presentation.
  6. Understanding the historical development and stages of the field.
  7. To acquire the professional formation about to the field and to use it in place and to adapt it to new formations
  8. To be able to write in accordance with scientific methods,

Admission Requirements

-To be a undergraduate of Theology or Islamic Sciences,

-ALES score requirement is not required for applying to the graduate program without thesis.

-To get at least 70 points from YDS or YÖKDİL (Arabic) or to get at least 70 points from IZU Arabic Language Proficiency Exam.

(Except International students whose native language is Arabic.)

-The courses of this program are given in İstanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Altunizade campus.
