Course Objective

To explain the historical development, philosophy and problem areas of the Olympic movement.

Course Content

Examining the ancient Olympic Games from the perspective of their origins, athlete profiles, branches, ceremonial practices, amateurism, and rewards, comparing them with modern Olympic Games, the establishment of the modern Olympic Games, the Olympic movement and the philosophy of Olympism, Olympic congresses, the problems facing the modern Olympic Games, ancient sporting venues in Anatolia, the Olympic movement and Olympism in Turkey.
