Course Objective
An examination of educational institutions and policies from the pre-Islamic era to the Republic and the present day. The aim is to emphasize the importance of educational history to students, summarize developments in education from the pre-Republican period to the present, and help them understand the fundamental educational philosophy of the Republic.
Course Content
The aims, periods, and fundamental issues of Turkish educational history:
Understanding of humanity and education among Turks in the pre-Islamic period,
Turkish educational philosophy, institutions, and educators during the Karakhanid, Seljuk, and Ottoman periods,
Educational philosophy and practices in the Republican era,
Institutions and practices related to teacher training in Türkiye.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Students will be familiar with fundamental issues in Turkish Education
- Students will be aware of the importance of Reforms in Turkish Education System
- Students will be aware of the fundamental issues in philosophy of Turkish Education.
- Students will be aware of the developments in education from pre republican period to the present day
- Students will be aware of the revolutions and their impact on Education
