Course Objective
The aim of the Out-of-School Learning Environments course is to provide information on out-of-school learning within the framework of lifelong learning, the definition, scope, characteristics, processes, models of informal learning, non-formal education as an out-of-school learning environment, and informal learning opportunities.
Course Content
To instill the importance and place of out-of-school learning in lifelong learning, and to provide information about the conceptual foundations of informal learning and the organizational structures, objectives, and program areas of out-of-school learning environments. In this context, sports education in out-of-school environments, teaching methods and techniques appropriate for out-of-school learning environments (project-based learning, environment-based teaching, etc.); out-of-school learning environments (museums, science centers, zoos, botanical gardens, sports fields and organizations, national parks, visits to historical and cultural sites, rural areas, etc.); and to ensure the planning, implementation, and evaluation of out-of-school learning activities.
Course Learning Outcomes
- He/she learns that sports teaching and learning cannot be done only in the classroom.
- Recognizes non-formal environments.
- He/she sees that education and training can also be done in out-of-school learning areas.
- Students become familiar with out-of-school learning environments. Students become aware of the importance of out-of-school environments for learning.
- The student explains the “importance of out-of-school learning environments in student learning.”
