Course Objective

The main aim of this course is to prepare students for graduate thesis writing and / or research. In our lesson, four main points are aimed at: First, to bring the students to a scientific and methodological perspective that will turn a social / political problem / topic into a master's thesis. The second is to ensure that students prepare for any topic according to scientific research methods by eliminating the shortcomings of the methods and techniques of scientific research. Third, Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Social Sciences Institute is to ensure the principles contained in the Guidelines by sharing the criteria contained in the Guidelines for Thesis Writing. The fourth is to allow each student to select a topic and prepare a thesis / research proposal for it, to search the literature and write a theoretical chapter.

Course Content

Every student is expected to do five things during the semester: First of all, each student will find a research topic that will turn into a thesis / research in the future. Second, each student will prepare a thesis / research proposal about this topic. Third, each student will prepare a Bibliography consisting of at least 100 sources related to the selected topic. Fourth, each student will draw a one page summary of 10 of these sources. Finally, each student will prepare a paper / article about the selected topic. It is expected that the article will be prepared in the future as a literature analysis or theoretical framework of the master's thesis and will be composed of about 10,000 words. The article will be prepared according to Sabahattin Zaim University, Institute of Social Sciences, Thesis Writing Guide. Students will be obliged to submit the thesis proposals they prepare, the bibliography and the article within the time allocated to them in the class. This course aims to prepare the students for the lecture, so the lecturer is required to actively participate in the lecture. 50 percent attendance is compulsory for this course which will be processed Interactively and student who does not attend attendance condition will be left. Students who provide continuity and deliver the paper / article will be considered "successful".
