Course Objective

To gain theoretical knowledge about complementary and alternative treatment methods which are widely used and popular nowadays, to gain care skills by using complementary treatment methods and to plan care with holistic (mind-body relationship and treatment and care of diseases), risk and use evidence-based criteria to assess benefits

Course Content

This course includes theoretical knowledge, skills and holistic approach and evidence based practice principles about complementary and alternative treatment methods used.

  1. Know the Historical Development of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the world and Turkey
  2. Knows WHO views on Complementary Therapies
  3. Know the legal regulations in complementary and alternative therapies, interpret the ethical dimensions of these treatment methods
  4. Knows the role of nurse in complementary and alternative therapies
  5. Gain theoretical knowledge about complementary and alternative treatment methods that are popular and popular nowadays and care skills by using this information
  6. Recognize and know the effects of complementary and alternative treatment methods for selected clinical conditions
  7. Use evidence-based criteria to develop knowledge based on complementary and alternative treatment methods and to evaluate the benefits of these methods
  8. Understand the importance of mind-body medicine, biology-based treatments, manipulative and body-based methods, learning energy therapies and using them in nursing care practices
