Course Objective
To understand the phonetic, phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical features of Old Turkish. To recognize works written in Old Turkish and to be able to read these works in their original scripts. To analyze the linguistic features of Old Turkish through texts.
Course Content
Understands the historical development of the Turkish language. Is knowledgeable about the political, social, and geographical events of the Old Turkish period. Understands the alphabets used in Old Turkish texts. Distinguishes Old Turkish from other periods and stages of the Turkish language. Understands the linguistic features of Old Turkish. Conducts linguistic analyses of Old Turkish texts.
