Course Objective

This course aims to examine the institutional structures, political processes, and impact of international organizations (IOs) in the contemporary global political and economic system.

Course Content

This course will examine the institutional structures, political processes, and impact of international organizations (IOs) in the contemporary global political and economic system. It is intended to facilitate students to acquire empirical knowledge about a range of organizations, and think critically about whether, how, and under what conditions international organizations shape world politics.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will gain a thorough understanding of the historical trends in the establishment and evolution of IOs
  2. The student will be able to critically analyse different theoretical perspectives, concepts and debates about the importance and role of IOs in world politics, as well as various factors that explain their performance and effectiveness
  3. The students will understand the structure and process of decision making in various IOs
