Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with advanced knowledge of economics and finance theories. It is to contribute to the students' ability to apply and interpret theories in order to produce original studies in the field of economics and finance.

Course Content

This course begins with the basic concepts of economics, market economy, supply, demand and price formation, consumption theory, production and cost structure, market types and structures, factor markets and income distribution. It continues with the general view of the world economy and national income accounts. Then the goods market, financial market, nominal and real exchange rate, consumption and investment policy instruments are discussed in detail. The closed economy version continues with IS / LM analysis under fixed price assumption, AD / AS analysis under variable price assumption, labor market and Phillips Curve. It ends with theories of interest, monetary policies, money and inflation, rational expectations theories, and exchange rate regimes.
