Course Objective

The aim of this course is to gain knowledge and skills about the physiological and pathological processes in homeostasis, cells, organs and systems, the main causes of the changes that may occur in systems in case of illness, their mechanisms, the signs, findings and basic treatment approaches.

Course Content

This course includes the physiopathological changes in cell, organ and system levels; cell and tissue physiology, gene and genetic diseases, fluid electrolyte, acid base imbalance, cell injury, inflammation, immunity, infection, immunodeficiency, stress and diseases, oncogenesis, neurological, endocrine, hematological, cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, digestive, muscle Mechanisms of disease and skin system diseases, diagnosis and treatment principles.

Explanations

Evaluation of the course:

Achievement: 30% Midterm + 20% Homework + 50% Final exam = 100%

The mid-term and final exams of the course will consist of open-ended questions.

In the course work, each student will prepare and share a topic and a relevant case statement. The paper will deliver the report as a 13-week report in the case of the word file.

Assignments will be evaluated by using the subject content and case based on scientific and up-to-date information

Rules

Students must attend 70% of the course. Each student has to follow the course to continue. The student who cannot fulfill the condition of attendance can not take the Final and make-up exam.

The course must be entered in time.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. To be able to explain genetic environmental interaction and genetic diseases
  2. To be able to explain the mechanisms of cell communication, cell injury, cell death
  3. Explain cell cycle and its changes, mechanisms of action of oncogenesis and neoplastic treatments
  4. To be able to explain the effects of liquid-electrolyte / acid-base imbalances at cell and system level,
  5. Explain the defense systems of the body, inflammation, immune response and changes, pathogenesis of infection
