Course Objective

The main purpose of our course is to get to know the sects, ideas and social formations of today's Islamic world.

Course Content

For this purpose, the basic ethnic structures, the major languages ​​spoken and the major sects in the Islamic world will be introduced first. In addition to recognizing the minority Muslim societies, the subject of the course includes large non-Islamic religious societies that are minorities in the Islamic world.
The course will then focus on contemporary Islamic trends. In the contemporary period, the world of ideas of Muslims and the practices created by this world will be studied on the basis of different Islamic movements. When necessary, a selection of texts that best reflect a thought or trend will be read and discussed. The course of the subject will mainly go through the currents of traditionalism, reformism and modernism, but their different internal manifestations will come to the fore comparatively.
