Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the fundamentals of scientific research on wireless sensor networks and the basics of data processing on wireless sensor networks. Wireless sensor networks have increased their popularity over the past few years. There are many potential applications in this area, some of which can be listed as remote inspection of natural parks, civil engineering, security applications and smart transport applications. Having knowledge of the working principles and application areas of wireless sensor networks will contribute positively to the careers of students who are studying in the field of computer science. The main areas of application for wireless sensor networks are packet routing, positioning, topology control, databases in sensor networks, data aggregation and simulation.

Course Content

Definition of Wireless Sensor Networks, general concepts of the wireless network architectures, protocol stacks, routing protocols and algorithms, wireless network node specifications and constraints, security of wireless networks and wireless network standards.
