MIM 517 - Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures

Graduate Education Institute · Architecture · Master

ECTS: 7.5 T+P+L: 3+0+0 Departmental Elective
Coordinator: Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Muhammed Emin AKYÜREK

Course Objective

It is aimed to introduce architectural students to earthquakes in an earthquake region, to be able to cooperate with construction engineer at the beginning of design and to gain the ability to develop common language for this purpose. For this purpose, the organization of structural systems according to the lessons to be learned from past earthquakes and current regulations, and the support and forming of contemporary structural systems according to the rules of nature are discussed.

Course Content

This course examines the principles of structural systems in architecture through case studies, developing the design of earthquake-resistant structural systems compatible with the architectural project.
