Course Objective
This is an introductory principles of economics course that covers theory of economics.
Course Content
The course begins to study how individuals and economies deal with the fundamental economic problem of scarcity.
Course Learning Outcomes
- •Will be able to explain the determinants of demand and supply
- •Will be able to explain the concept of elasticity, price elastcity of demand, the factors affecting the elasticity of demand and elasticity of supply
- •Will be able to define basic economic concepts,
- •Will be able to explain the profit and cost analysis and the production activities of enterprises,
- •Will be able to explain the basic concepts of microeconomics, such as scarcity, opportunity cost, efficiency and economic growth by using the production possibilities frontiers,
- •Will have the knowledge and skills to identify the characteristics of competitive and monopolistic markets.
- •Will be able to describe the decision mechanisms in production and consumption, how consumers behave in the market with the help of total and marginal utility and price concepts,
