Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to teach the background of constitutional developments until today. The course also aims at giving information about general principles and fundamental concepts of the current Constitution.

Course Content

The course covers Sened-i İttifak, 1876 Kânûn-i Esâsî, 1876 Kânûn-i Esâsî, 1921 Code of Teşkilat-ı Esasiye, 1924 Code of Teşkilat-ı Esasiye , 1961 Constitution, 1982 Constitution, as well as fundamental organs and institutions of state set out in 1982 Constitution.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Students explain the sources of information for Constitutional Law.
  2. Students explain the types of government and systems of unity of power.
  3. Students evaluate the importance of constitutional law in legal disputes and political issues and solve the legal problems by reference to the provisions of the Constitution, actions and scholarly view.
  4. Students evaluate the Turkish constitutional system and analyze current constitutional problems. They can also determine and evaluate the main organs and institutions of the State.
