Course Objective
To gain the ability to read and understand printed and written Ottoman Turkish texts correctly and to translate them into today's Turkish.
Course Content
This course aims to help students read and analyze Ottoman Turkish texts written in different styles. By selecting poetry and prose examples from works produced until the 19th century, language changes and developments are emphasized.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Reads and understands various examples of poetry and prose in print from the 13th to the 19th centuries.
- Learns and understands new words used in poetry and prose from the 13th century to the 19th century.
- Intuits the grammatical rules seen in poetry and prose from the 13th century to the 19th century.
- Obtains information about the understanding of art and social life of the period through various examples of poetry and prose from the 13th century to the 19th century.
