Course Objective
This course aims to provide students with a holistic perspective and understanding about psychology, through studying the history of psychological thought, its development as a science, major schools of thought and their contributions to the field of psychology.
Course Content
This course provides knowledge on the major people in the history of psychology, its development as a science, major schools of psychological thought, fundamental distinctions in psychology, approaches, methodologies and the answers provided by various approaches, through both historicism and presentism.

- Being able to discuss the physiologicall influences on psychology.
- Between the history of science the history of Psychology and modern conceptual, theoretical and factual relations compareto discuss.
- Being able to comprehend and discuss the theoretical, conceptual and intellectual relations between the history of science and the history of modern Psychology
- After taking this course students will be able to explain historical background of psychology, foundation of psychology as an independent science, and development of different psychological theories in an historical perspective.
- Being able to discuss the philosophical influences on psychology.
- Understanding the subfields of psychology and their approaches and contributions
- Being familiar with and interested in the concepts, theories and fundamentals of psychology
- Having a holistic big picture perspective on the schools, major pioneers, methods and fundamental questions of Psychology
