Course Objective
The aim of this course is to analyze the dynamics of Russian politics through a historical perspective.
Course Content
Course content includes but not limited to issues such as the state-building in tsarist period, the question of nationalities, the establishment and fall of the communist regime in the twentieth century, the state building in the post-Soviet period, the dynamics of foreign policy options under the reign of Putin and so on.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to comprehend central theoretical and public debates about state-society relations in Russia.
- Students will be able to demonstrate a basic comprehension of issues, debates, processes, and actors in Russian politics.
- Students will have familiarity with themes and debates as well as intellectual school of thoughts about Russian foreign policy.
