Course Objective

The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the political economy of Turkey. The course provides a historical, political and analytical framework to explain the economic changes and developments in Turkey.

Course Content

The structure and institutions of Turkish economy are introduced with reference to their relation with the Turkish political system. Moreover, current economic issues and foreign relations are also discussed.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will have the knowledge of the historical background of Turkish politics and economy.
  2. Students will be able to discuss the contemporary problems confronting the Turkish economy and their historical and political roots.
  3. Students will be able to relate the key phases of Turkish political economy with big changes in international political economy.
