Course Objective
This course aims to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of project management, enabling them to analyze project processes from an integrated perspective, covering scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, and procurement management components. The course will provide detailed insights into project and project management concepts, project classification, project phases, and benefits, and will thoroughly examine project management processes (Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closure). The focus of this course is on the adaptation of project management theories and applications to the field of social work. In this context, key components such as project-based working models in social work, societal needs analysis, project design, implementation, and evaluation will be explored. The primary goal is to equip students with the skills to develop practical solutions to social issues using effective project management approaches. This course provides a framework for developing social responsibility projects and sustainable project management in the context of social work. Throughout the course, students will learn how to develop applicable projects in social work, formulate social policies, and manage civil society projects.
Additionally, students will be introduced to modern project management methods, including Project Cycle Management (PCM), Logical Framework Matrix, Risk Assessment, Resource Planning, and Effective Team Management. Based on these foundations, students will be expected to design and implement effective and sustainable social responsibility projects in the field of social work.
At the end of this course, students will:
• Be aware of the fundamental concepts and processes of project management.
• Be able to design applicable projects in the field of social work.
• Effectively manage and evaluate social responsibility projects.
• Optimize projects using resource and risk management strategies.
Thus, students will develop the ability to design impactful projects in social work and create sustainable solutions aligned with sustainable development goals.
Course Content
The course is structured around the development of social responsibility projects within the framework of project management and social work. In line with the course objectives, students are expected to understand the fundamental components of project management, develop applicable projects in the field of social work, and design sustainable projects. Within this framework, the course covers essential project management methodologies, including Project Cycle Management (PCM), Logical Framework Matrix, Risk Management, Resource Planning, and Effective Team Management. Additionally, project-based working models in social work, societal needs analysis, and the impact of social responsibility projects at the mezzo (institutional/community) and macro (societal) levels are examined. Another critical aspect of the course is the role of digital technology and artificial intelligence in project management, emphasizing innovative approaches and their integration into social work projects. In this context, modern applications such as system-based approaches, ecosystem-oriented strategies, and human-centered social work projects are discussed. Through this course, students will gain a holistic understanding of project planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation processes while acquiring the necessary skills to develop projects aligned with sustainable development goals in social work. By the end of the course, students are expected to develop professional competencies in resource management, risk analysis, project optimization, and the implementation of social work projects.

Explanations
In case of an assignment instead of an exam:
The midterm assessments for the course “SHZ 420 / Project Management” will be conducted based on the project assignment topics determined in the 2nd week of the semester. Between the 9th and 14th weeks, final grades will be determined through individual and group PowerPoint presentations of the project assignments set during the midterm. The topic will be discussed and decided with the students on the first day of class (Week 1).
Rules
In the “SHZ 406 / Project Management“ courses; Students are expected to make a preliminary preparation about the subjects given under the “Preliminary Preparation" headings set for the next week.
• There is a 70% attendance requirement for this course.
* Individual and group assignments that need to be prepared in the context of this course, written (Word-File) and presentations (PowerPoint) will be taken from all students both in print (printed) and in digital media.
* Midterm/Dec Exam and Final Exams will be conducted as group assignments.
o Group assignments will be done with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 people.
o Visa/ Midterm Exam grade group assignment will be given by taking into account the contributions of the students who contributed to the assignment via Word-File. Dec.
o Final Exam grades; PowerPoint group presentations will be given over. The grades of the students in the groups may be different. Each student's contributions to the course/ assignment will be evaluated by taking into account their presentation performance.
The Subject of Plagiarism:

The assessment that will be taken into account when scoring assignments on plagiarism:
Plagiarism rates: (0 – 09: +10, 10 – 15:+8, 16 – 20:+2, 21 – 25:-2, 26 – 30:-4, 31 – 35:-6, 36 – 50:-10, 51 – and above; Assignment shall be void.
