Course Objective
The aim of the course is to analyze the social problems in Turkey and in the world and to help students understand the basic concepts related to these problems, as well as to increase their awareness of the social problems in their own social environment.
Course Content
This course; What is social problem? A general introduction to the course and information about the course of the course, industrialization, the industrial revolution, the history and definition of social problems, social justice and inequality as a social problem, unemployment-labor markets and employment, poverty, old age problems, migration and urban social problems, problems of the disabled, It includes topics such as global and social exclusion, crime, delinquency and substance abuse, gender inequality, and child problems.

Explanations
Evaluation
Students taking the course will be evaluated based on the following factors:
a) In-term evaluation: 50 %
Visa: It is done during the visa week specified in the academic calendar. Impact on intra-period evaluation 50%
b) Final: 50 % (It is held during the final week specified in the academic calendar).
• Midterm and Final exams can be made as tests or based on theoretical knowledge and interpretation of the course, and may also consist of open-ended questions. Basic and supplementary resources specified in the lesson plan, as well as articles and similar documents given in other educational tools (Perusall LMS) can be evaluated together in these exams. In addition, it can be evaluated by giving various assignments apart from exams.
Rules
• Cheating from exams or attempting to cheat in any way will not be tolerated. According to the provisions of Article 7/e and 8/d of the Higher Education Institutions Student Disciplinary Regulation, the crime of "making cheating in the exams or having them made or attempting to do so" is punished with the penalty of "removal from the higher education institution for one or two semesters". The names of those who cheat or attempt to cheat in the exam are reported to the Dean's Office with the request of a disciplinary investigation.
• Students must attend at least 70% of the lessons. Students with less than 70% participation in the course are considered unsuccessful directly from this course. These students; they are not taken to the final and therefore the make-up exam. Students who attend the course 90% or more are given points to be added to the final grade.

- Defines social problems and basic concepts related to these problems
- Defines the emergence and historical background of social problems
- Understands the problems and solutions related to inequality, injustice, old age and disability.
- Knows the causes of poverty, migration and urban problems and the main factors affecting them.
- Knowledge of globalization, social exclusion, crime, delinquency and substance abuse
- Defines areas related to street children and child employment
