Faculty of Health Sciences · Nutrition and Dietetics · Undergraduate
Course Objective
The aim of this course is to examine the basic concepts of statistics, descriptive statistics and parameters, an introduction to sampling theory and basic sampling methods, statistical interpretation, hypothesis testing, and data analysis in social research, enabling students to effectively apply statistical knowledge and skills in their own studies.
Course Content
This course covers the following topics: discussion of course expectations, statistics for social sciences, basic concepts in statistics, frequency distribution tables and charts, measures of central tendency and variability, probability distributions, sampling distributions, parameter estimation and confidence intervals, hypothesis (significance) testing, tests for normality and homogeneity of variances, parametric and non-parametric hypothesis tests, correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis (Part I and II), and a general evaluation of the course.
