Course Objective
The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the concept of leadership with the classical approaches that constitute the definition of leadership in health institutions, current information in national and international literature, and to evaluate the subject from the perspective of health management. At the same time, it is aimed to convey to the students how effective leadership practices are restructured according to the situation, institutions and different cultures and their successful results from the perspective of health management and to develop students' critical thinking and their own leadership skills by doing research on the subject.
Course Content
In the course; the concept of leadership, leadership techniques, leadership theories, evaluation of the effects of the use of authority and power in health institutions and other components associated with the concept of leadership will be explained with current approaches. Organisational climate and culture, communication vision, change management and motivation issues related to leadership will also be explained within the framework of leadership approaches. It will be emphasised how the acquired knowledge can be applied in the health sector. In the course, it is aimed to make evaluations together through examples in order for students to understand leadership and related concepts in depth and to develop their own approaches on the subject. For this purpose, classical leadership theories, contemporary leadership approaches, leadership illusions, gender and cultural differences in leadership, the effect of emotional intelligence on leadership, challenges in leadership, leadership development programmes and case studies are planned.
