Course Objective
Economic analysis of the health sector, economic evaluation methods applied in the health sector, expenditure and financing structure in health services, the effect of health on economic growth and development, supply-demand structure and characteristics in health services, the concept and calculations of flexibility, state intervention in health services, health statistics and to examine the issues of disease burden.
Course Content
Introduction to health economics, elasticity of demand in health and factors affecting it, elasticity of demand in health and factors affecting it, elasticity of supply in health and factors affecting it, key actors in supply of health services, cost of health services production, cost-technology relationship, efficiency in healthcare supply, equity, health services financing, health services financing, market structures, role of government in health sector, economic evaluation techniques.
