Course Objective
The aim of this course is to provide students with the skills to examine the concepts of health and illness from a sociological perspective, to understand the social determinants of health, and to analyze the relationships between health, society, culture, and politics.
Course Content
This course covers the social construction of health and illness concepts, the biomedical model and its critiques, the social model and the biopsychosocial approach, the relationship between body and health, medicalization, risk society, globalization, traditional medical practices, the patient's role, patient rights, health inequalities, and health policies.

Explanations
This course aims to develop students' skills in analyzing the phenomenon of health from a sociological perspective and thinking critically.
Rules
Attendance at 70% of classes is mandatory. Academic ethics rules must be followed.
