Course Objective

Health Management undergraduate students studying in the department aims to have knowledge about the definition of health, the definition of health services and the basic features of health services, the external aspect of health services, the special nature of health services, the Turkish health system, the types, functions and establishment stages of health institutions and the organizational structure of hospitals. 

Course Content

To have knowledge about business science and basic concepts, the framework of the business and the examination of economic conditions, the establishment stages of enterprises at a level that can be applied in the field. To know the distinguishing features of health institutions from other institutions. To have knowledge about the concept of health and disease, the concept of health needs, the definition and characteristics of health services, integrated health systems organisation, hospital functions, organisational structures, internal and external environments of health institutions and their relationship with them, Turkish health system, types and functions of health institutions, stages of establishment of health institutions, management of administrative and medical services in health institutions and in this context they will learn the roles and functions of professional health managers.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. To have knowledge about the establishment, growth, types and economic activities of health institutions.
  2. To have knowledge about business functions and to be able to analyze these functions in terms of their role in business success.
  3. To explain the concepts of perceived, expressed, normative and comparative health needs.
  4. To know the basic characteristics, qualities and types of health services.
  5. Explains the definition of health as accepted by WHO, knows the concept of disease according to the medical and social model.
  6. Understands the hierarchical structure of health institutions.
  7. To gain perspective on management and organizational structure.
  8. To know the basic concepts of business administration.
  9. To have knowledge about the functional areas of business and to be able to analyze ethical and social issues related to business activities.
  10. To know the definition, characteristics, functions and classification of hospitals.
