Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences · Interior Architecture and Environmental Design · Undergraduate
Course Objective
The primary objective of this course is to enable students to competently synthesize their design, research, technical application, and presentation skills in the disciplines of interior architecture and environmental design through the analysis of a complex and multilayered spatial problem.
Course Content
This course consists of a capstone project that students will carry out under the guidance of faculty members and a jury, covering the processes of research, analysis, concept development, design across scales, and detailing. The project topic may include the design of public, commercial, residential, cultural, or mixed-use spaces that are complex in function, large in scale, or focused on adaptive reuse.

Explanations
- 1. Attendance: According to the regulations, if a student does not attend 30% of the total course hours, he/she will be absent from the course (DZ) and fail.
2. Coming Late: You are expected not only to come to class but also to attend the class on time. Please note that arriving late to 3 classes will be counted as 1 complete absence. Arriving late to class is defined as follows: The instructor takes class attendance and attends class after the first 10 minutes of class.
Rules
The aim of the graduation project is to produce a study proving that the student has the necessary knowledge and development and has reached the desired professional level in all discipline areas that constitute the whole of education and training in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, and on the other hand, to evaluate the student's development at this stage through general criticism. to ensure its development.
Although it includes the evaluation of process and analysis studies within certain limits, the basic characteristic of the graduation project is that it is a project work whose outcome is oriented towards an architectural product. In the graduation project, it is aimed to monitor the student's work as a design process and to test the student's knowledge and skills regarding design within the scope of the project topic determined by the synthesis of the subjects covered in all applied and theoretical courses in interior architecture education.
The necessary stages and work to be done in this process are determined by the jury. The supervision envisaged during the execution of the study and general criticisms at the necessary stages in the development of the project are made by the final jury in certain intermediate jury sessions during the semester.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Conducts contextual, urban, and sociocultural analyses of a given or selected complex spatial problem; develops a well-defined program of needs and a design scenario based on user profiles and requirements.
- Transforms analytical data into an original design concept; establishes spatial organization across different scales while taking into account the relationships between volume, circulation, proportion, form, and function.
- Integrates the design concept with technical systems such as structure, materials, construction methods, HVAC, acoustics, and lighting; produces feasible detailed solutions (1/10, 1/20, 1/50).
- Tn spatial design, it effectively applies the principles of ergonomics, universal design (accessibility for all), user psychology, environmental sustainability, and the balance between conservation and use.
- Explains design decisions to the jury and audience using a methodological and analytical approach and in academic and professional language; demonstrates a sense of professional ethics and responsibility.
