Course Objective

Within the scope of the course, it is aimed to analyze historical places in terms of social, cultural and architectural period features.

Course Content

The development of historical sites selected from the ancient period, Europe and the Turkish-Islamic world; theoretical knowledge that illuminates the reflection of the functions of the buildings on the space; development of residences and settlements together with social and geographical factors; architectural features of the selected buildings in terms of political, socio-cultural, natural factors and city history, architecture and art history.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Learns the development of the selected places from the ancient period, the relationship in the context of historical process and geography.
  2. Learns the factors affecting the spatial formation of the Anatolian-Turkish city and the functional development created by the change of these factors in the spaces and their surroundings.
  3. Gains the skill of how to connect with the historical background of the buildings and to make predictions for the future.
  4. Gains awareness of the preservation of historical sites.
