Course Objective

The aim of this course is to gain an understanding of biology core concepts to enable students to better comprehend food science courses in the upcoming years.

Course Content

The content of this course is the chemical contents of life, cell, metabolism, prokaryotic life, forms and functions of plants and animals, the concept of genetics and biotechnology.

Rules

The final exam covers subjects of the entire semester. The date, time and place of the final exam are announced by the Dean's Office.

Rules and Reminders

  1. Attendance: According to the regulation, if a student does not attend 30% of the total course hours, he / she will fail the course (DZ).
  2. Late Arrival: You are expected to attend the class in a timely manner. Please note that late arrival to 3 courses will be counted as 1 complete absenteeism. Late arrival to the class is defined as follows: The first 10 minutes after the course has started.
  3. Getting Help: It is important for your education to ask questions about the course during the lectures or during office hours. We recommend that our students get help if necessary.
  4. Academic honesty: It is expected that the student would make his / her own effort and take part in the studies that will lead to the course grade. In cases of non-ethical situations such as plagiarism and copying, disciplinary proceedings will be held according to IZU regulations and the student will be subject to necessary sanctions.
  5. The evaluations stated in this document shall be fixed and no extra compensation shall be allowed for the purpose of raising the grade.

  4. Describe the fundamental characteristics of living organisms (PÖÇ-1).
