Course Objective

To ensure the identification of priority concepts for teaching individuals with intellectual disabilities, the analysis of the concepts to be taught, and the implementation of instruction using appropriate teaching methods.

 

Course Content

Defining the concept; types of concepts; benefits of concepts; children's learning of the concept; elements of concept teaching; Points to be considered in concept teaching; methods used in concept teaching; direct instruction model; simultaneous prompt teaching; constant time delay teaching, planning concept teaching; applying concept teaching.

  • The assignment is to be uploaded as a PDF to the assignments section on Teams.
    The score derived from in-class exercises—conducted with students taking on the role of the teacher—will be determined by dividing the total points by the number of exercises performed. For instance, if each student participates in two exercises, the total score for each exercise will be 30.
    The score for each activity will be determined by dividing the score for the number of activities participated in in class by the number of activities most frequently performed.
  • For students who do not have mandatory attendance, the Class Participation Score will be calculated by averaging the midterm and final exam grades.

 

Rules

If the report regarding the in-class teaching activity is not submitted, the points awarded for participation in the roles of teacher and student will be excluded from the evaluation.

  2. Teaches concepts to individuals with intellectual disabilities with correct teaching method.
  3. Teaches concepts to individuals with autism spectrum disorder with accurate teaching method.
  4. Teaches concepts to individuals with autism spectrum disorders through direct instruction.
  5. Makes concept analysis.
  6. Determines the appropriate tools and materials in concept teaching.
  7. Makes concept teaching practices to individuals with intellectual disabilities
  8. It identifies the concepts that need to be taught as a priority.
