Course Objective
The aim is to understand how the War of Independence unfolded and to gain knowledge about Turkey during the war period in terms of its political, social, and economic aspects. In addition, the Mudanya Armistice Agreement and the effects of the Treaty of Lausanne on the establishment of the new Republic will be discussed. The aim is to review the innovations made in the political, social, economic, educational, and legal fields during the Republican era. Furthermore, in this course, students will learn about the reasons behind the Turkish Revolution, the foreign policy of the period, the effects of Atatürk's principles on the establishment of Turkey, and the transition from community to citizenship.
Course Content
The War of Independence will be examined in general terms. The Mudanya Armistice (October 11, 1922), the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne (July 24, 1923), innovations in the social, political, cultural, economic, and educational fields, Atatürk's principles, and foreign policy during the Atatürk era are included in the course content.
