Course Objective
The aim of this course is to make students understand the importance of value and character education.
Course Content
Conceptual framework: Character, personality / personality, value, virtue, morality, temperament, temperament, etc .; character development and education; family, environment and school in character development and education; definition and classification of values; sources of values and individual, social, cultural, religious, moral foundations; approach to character and value education; a culture of intercultural differentiation and coexistence in character and value education; character and value education in terms of educational philosophy and objectives; teaching methods and techniques in character / value education; values crisis and education in modern and multicultural societies; value education in the process of human-cultural development; Turkey examples about the value of education and cultural history education, practice and research values education in Turkey; teacher as role model in character and value education.

Explanations
The following points will be used in the calculation of the overall success grade:
Midterm exam (midterm) 30% (consisting of multiple choice, true-false, fill-in-the-blank and open-ended questions)
Performance presentation 20% (The presentations are based on the theoretical knowledge covered in the course as a demonstration combined with drama and ront/singing performances).
Performance presentation topics are related to the following values:
Diligence
Tolerance
Justice
Solidarity
Integrity
Respect
Each student will undertake a group task within the scope of the performance to be exhibited for the relevant values. In this process, the evaluations will be as follows:
- Is the relationship between performance and value appropriate? (25%)
- Is the processing of the related value appropriate for the developmental levels of primary school students? (25%)
- How engaging and fluid is the performance (25%)?
- Are the scenario and song/front set for the performance relevant to the relevant value? (25%)
Final exam 50% (consists of multiple choice, true-false, fill-in-the-blank and open-ended questions)
Course Learning Outcomes
- To be able to explain the relationships between concepts such as character, personality, disposition, and temperament
- To be able to define the concept of values and its cultural connections.
- To be able to recognize the cultural sources of character and values education.
- To be able to understand the foundations of character development by explaining the relationship between society, culture, and morality.
- To be able to identify examples of character and values education practices from Turkey and around the world, and to comprehend the process of culture, values, character, and personality based on these examples.
