Course Objective
To ensure that pre-school teacher candidates learn concepts and practices related to social skills. To ensure that pre-school teacher candidates examine the social emotional skills and social field skills in pre-school programs and design and implement their activities accordingly.
Course Content
Definitions and concepts related to behavior, positive social behavior and social skills, Importance and necessity of gaining social skills to preschool children, Theoretical foundations of behavior development, Definition of problem behavior and the relationship between social skills and problem behavior in pre-school. Social skills models, social skills areas and classification of social skills (beginning skills, academic skills, emotional skills, coping skills, problem solving skills), developing social skills in preschool, Social skills programs in Turkey and in the world for preschool children, Preparing and presenting activity examples of social skills development and reduction of problem behaviors in pre-school.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Knows social emotional skills and social field skills, which are components of the Maarif Model 2024 MEB Pre-School Education Program.
- Know and tell the basic concepts of social skills
- Comprehend the importance of social skills training
- Know and tell the classification of social skills
- Examine and use social skills programs while working with preschool children.
- Write activities to develop social skills in pre-school education.
