Course Objective
This course aims to identify Arabic dictionaries across different eras and to know the mechanisms for extracting the meanings of words from them. It also aims to shed light on the relationship of lexical material to other linguistics topics.
Course Content
1- Studying the history of Arabic dictionaries
2- Identifing the Arabic lexicographic schools
3- Learning the traditional methods of extracting the meanings of words from various Arabic dictionaries
3- Studying the relationship of lexicography to other linguistic sciences
4- Reviewing morphology in general and linguistic roots in particular

Course Learning Outcomes
- Recognize the features of Arabic dictionaries of different periods
- Describes the lexicology, examines the interaction of linguistics with other sub-branches.
- A variety of analysis tools such as dictionaries, text sentences, witnessed indexers, taggers, know the methods of lexicography.
- Have general information about the arrangement of vocabulary in school dictionaries.
