IKT 442 - Regional Economic Development

Course Objective

The aim of the course is to provide detailed knowledge of the student about the foundations of economic development and the importance of regional development. It is to enable the students to understand the regional development policies applied to increase the competitive advantages of the national and global subdivision. In this context, the determinants of the welfare levels of the regions and the appropriate regional policies to achieve stable and sustainable development will be discussed.

Course Content

The course will focus on economic concepts, theories and methods, the role of regional economic actors (such as state, firm, household) in the economy, regional growth and development problems, and the role of innovation, creativity and technology in the regional economy. In addition, basic theories such as growth theory, classical, keynesian, neoclassical and endogenous growth models, foreign trade will be examined.
