Course Objective

1.  To learn the theoretical models of the labor market. 2.  To learn how to test the models empirically. 3.  To learn how to model labor supply and demand. 4.  To understand the reasons and effects of immigration and unemployment. 5.  To learn the returns of education in the labor market.

Course Content

How labor markets function. Labor supply and demand. Wage determination. Analysis of minimum wage. Human capital, training and role of education. Economics of discrimination. Immigration, unemployment and unions. Informal sector.
