Course Objective

The aim of this course is to learn and evaluate the development, operation and interaction of the international banking system and insurance.

Course Content

This course; The Concept and History of Banking, Financial System and the Place of Banking, Basic Banking Concepts, Functions and Types of Banks/Organizational Structure of Banks/Basic Banking Products and Services, Risks Encountered by Banks, Bank Balance Sheet and Income Statement, Regulatory and Supervisory Institutions/Legal Framework/Ethics in Banking Principles, An Overview of International Trade, International Banking and Offshore Banking, International Banking Regulations and Foreign Trade Legislation, Foreign Exchange, Exchange Rate and Foreign Exchange Markets, International Transfer and Identification Systems, Banking Activities for International Trade, Funds from International Money and Capital Markets, It covers the General Principles of Insurance, its Structure and Institutions in the International Insurance System, the Development of Insurance in the World and in Turkey, Insurance Businesses and Current Developments/General Evaluation and Closing.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. The student evaluates the development, operation and interaction of the international banking system and insurance.
  2. The student compares the types of loans and the differences between them.
  3. Student interprets risk management in banks and insurance companies.
  4. The student explains the developments in financial markets and contemporary banking sector.
