SOS 422 - Toplumsal Hareketler Sosyolojisi

The purpose of the course is to make students more familiar with Social Movements which emerge through collectivities and give voice to their grievances and concerns about the rights, welfare, and well‐being of themselves and others by engaging in various types of collective action, ranging from peaceful protest demonstrations to acts of political violence, small and local uprising to revolution, and from mass vigils memorializing deceased constituents to boisterous gatherings clamoring for retribution, all of which dramatize those grievances and concerns and demand that something be done about them. 

-To introduce Social Movements to students.

-To higlight different approaches to the study and analysis of  Social Movements .

-To show a variety of typologies of Social Movements

-To analyse and examine the different forms of Social Movements, starting with human rights to environmental, gender, feminist, peace, anti-globalism and so forth.
